Crazy Horse Memorial, located on hiway 16 between Custer and Hill City, is going to be the worlds largest sculpture - carved right out of the mountain. It was begun in 1948 by sculptor Korczak Ziolkowski at the request of Native Americans. The sculpture portrays the chief Crazy Horse, who among other things lead the battles of Little Bighorn in 1876.
